B2201 SHRP Gyratory Compactor

The B2201 gyratory compactor has been designed to conform in all respects to all applicable SHRP, AASHTO and FHWA specifications. Completely PC controlled, it compacts cylindrical specimens of hot mix asphalt using a compaction mode that simulates the compaction achieved on pavement using rollers. Compaction is started, carried out and terminated under computer control. The height of the specimen is monitored during the compaction process and this value used together with other known values calculate mix density.

Safety is assured by a completely enclosed compaction chamber, see through door and illuminated chamber, safety switch that stops gyration when guard door is open, emergency stop button and a work area that allows user to change the mold, compact and extract the specimen without lifting the mold. The specimen extractor is power assisted with no hand pumping.

The specimen height is continuously measured during compaction to within ±0.1mm. Data is displayed in real time. A user friendly software program for data acquisition, editing and analyzing data after compaction is another important feature.

A Pentium-processor personal computer, calibration equipment, interchangeable 100mm and 150mm molds with bottoms and RS-232 port are included. 120 VAC, 60Hz is standard.
