B1910 MARK 2 NAT TESTER
This is same as BI900 Nottingham Asphalt Tester (NAT) but includes hardware and software to carry out additional tests.
B1900 Nottingham Asphalt Tester (NAT)
The Nottingham Asphalt Tester (NAT) provides a simple, user-friendly means of measuring and assessing the mechanical properties of asphaltic materials. The NAT was developed at the University of Nottingham. The Pavement Research Group at Nottingham has an international reputation as one of the world’s leading centers specializing in work on the properties of highway materials, and the NAT has been developed by researchers with considerable experience of testing asphaltic mixes.
The Nottingham Asphalt Tester can be used for quality control, mix design, and product specification, failure investigation, pavement evaluation, the assessment of new materials and durability checks.
The basic B1900 NAT can perform the following tests:
- Measurement of elastic stiffness modulus using repeated load indirect tension.
- Measurement of instantaneous and total resilient modulus (ASTM test D4123).
- Assessment of resistance to fatigue cracking.
- Assessment of resistance to permanent deformation with the uniaxial creep test.
- Assessment of resistance to permanent deformation with the repeated load axial test.
Additional hardware and software enables users to carry out the following MARK 2 NAT tests:
- Advanced resilient modulus test for the measurement of instantaneous and total Poisson’s ratio and modulus as defined in ASTM test D4123.
- Dynamic creep with both axial and radial strain measurement. Full data capture and storage at predetermined intervals.
The Nottingham Asphalt Tester (NAT) consists of a stainless steel load frame fitted with a pneumatic actuator and load transducer and capable of applying vertical loads in the range 0 to 4.3kN; an indirect tensile subframe, alignment jig LVDT yokes, LVDT deformation transducers and software necessary to carry out Indirect Tensile Stiffness Modulus (ITSM) tests on both 100mm and 150mm diameter cores or molded cylindrical specimens; a 150mm or 100mm diameter (customer to specify) PVC specimen for routine checking of (ITSM) transducer accuracy; hardened, ground and polished platens, LVDT deformation transducers, LVDT mounts and software necessary to carry out both Static Creep and Repeated Load Axial tests on both 100mm and 150mm diameter specimens; an electronic interface unit with power supplies and signal conditioning for a load transducer, 2 thermocouples, 2 LVDTs and capability of expanding for up to 3 additional transducers; a temperature controlled cabinet capable of controlling temperature in the range of -10° to 60°C.
Software provides a user friendly means of carrying out testing. A 486 or compatible PC is suggested. About 100 psi supply pressure at 6 cfm is needed. A detailed color brochure is available for the asking.
